Album 53 has now ended. I have 4 entire cups of tears sitting around my house just in case aliens try to come in (probably 60% of you get that joke). Sorry I haven't been posting lately, but Blogger messed up their system and now 70% works.

Announcing. . .the best episode of the Ceiling Fan Podcast ever! Seriously, there should be a music video of "Tooth Fairy and Me"! Even if you're not a "fan" of the Ceiling Fan (then you're a liar 'cause who doesn't like a good podcast) listen to this episode!

The Imagination Station Book 2

     In the second Imagination Station book for ages 7 and up, Attack at the Arena, cousins Patrick and Beth travel to ancient Rome. At the Roman Colosseum, Emperor Honorius is hosting a gladiator battle in celebration of a war victory. Beth attends the event as the emperor’s slave; Patrick attends as a monk’s apprentice but is taken prisoner and sent to fight in the arena. During their adventure, the cousins meet Telemachus (a true historical figure), a monk who believes that fighting is wrong. Telemachus is willing to risk everything—even his life—to stop the killing.                                                  

 This book is interesting to younger readers and teaches readers, young and old, interesting historical facts about Emperor Honorius, Telemachus, and the colosseum in Rome.  Although older readers may become a tad bored with the short sentences, this book will be widely enjoyed by younger readers. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Thank you Tyndale for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book to review.

New Sampler Pack

Some of you may remember the picture to the right that was posted on the AIO Facebook Fan page a while ago. What I just noticed was at the top left of the picture there is a teaser for a new sampler pack. Today, they released a full-resolution version of the first sketch which you can see at the bottom right. This sampler pack is called "Pranks for the Memories" and includes the episodes "Pranks for the Memories", "I Slap Floor", and a new episode that is yet to be released! You can see the title of the new episode here or you can pre-order this album that is scheduled to released on May 23 this year here.

*Sigh*. . . ."The Green Ring Conspiracy" is out. . . .I'm not as excited as I used to be about previous albums because I downloaded this album a month early. I don't regret downloading it, but I'm not as excited as I used to be. Eugene already recorded the episodes so he is a little bored now too (see right).

     Anyway, I'm not going to review the episodes individually because all of the album is best reviewed as a whole.

The Imagination Station, "Voyage with the Vikings"

     

I recently received a copy of "Voyage with the Vikings", the first of the 5 Imagination Station books for children ages 7 and up. In this book, cousins Beth and Patrick go into the Imagination Station in search of a Viking Sunstone.
     This is a very good book. The book has vivid details and has amazing illustrations. Like the Imagination Station always does in an Adventures in Odyssey episode, it brought the history of Vikings like Erik the Red to life. It made historical figures like Erik the Red, his son Leif Erikkson and his mother, Hilda, come to life. Even though this book is meant for children 7 and up, even older kids can enjoy this fun story.

We've had a packed year full of secret agent marketing managers, mailmen pretending to be ice cream shoppe owners, and a creepy squirrel dressed as Whit! A Little Food for Thought. . .

A commenter on the Odyssey Scoop commented on the art of Album 53, and mentioned that Matthew resembled Bambi on the cover:

I disagreed until I compared Bambi with Matthew. To the right is a side-by-side comparison of the two. Does Matthew Parker look like Bambi in the new cover? The decision is yours. I hope that Album 53 isn't as sad as Bambi.

Odyssey Obsession

The REAL "Green Ring Conspiracy" Cover

This is the real cover art for "The Green Ring Conspiracy" to the right. It's a lot clearer than the last one we've seen. In my opinion, I think that it is the best cover that we've seen recently. I think that Matthew's nose is a little large, but Emily looks more realistic than the other art we've seen of her.
     PS. This album is supposed to be released on February 12th. In the airing schedule, the episode "The Homecoming" is airing on that day. This may confirm or deny the speculation that Richard Maxwell is coming back.
     PSS. This is the reason why the official Whit's End site isn't working properly:

The new cover (well, a cover hasn't yet been released, but that's beside the point) for Album 53 "The Green Ring Conspiracy" is out! That's it to the right. It is very grainy, but you can tell that it's Emily, Matthew and Whit kneeling next to a bag full of cash and there is a faint ferris wheel in the background.
